SAGUACHE — One of the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department's favorite annual fundraisers is being held at an exciting location this year, as the department brings its 4th Annual Cajun Boil and Silent Auction to the Saguache Hollyhock Festival on Saturday, July 25.
The event will be held on Fourth Street in Saguache, where residents and visitors are invited to purchase a delicious Cajun-inspired meal, enjoy refreshing drinks, browse a silent auction and spend the day celebrating community while supporting the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department.
Over the past several years, the Cajun Boil has grown into a popular tradition for the department, bringing together families, and supporters for good food and a worthwhile cause. This year's partnership with the Hollyhock Festival gives both longtime supporters and first-time visitors an opportunity to enjoy one of the San Luis Valley's signature summer celebrations while helping the department continue its mission of serving the Moffat community.
In addition to purchasing a meal, attendees will have the opportunity to browse and bid on a variety of silent auction items donated by local businesses and community members. Every dollar raised during the fundraiser will go directly toward supporting the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department, helping to provide equipment, firefighter training and other resources needed to continue protecting the community.
For the members of the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department, the annual fundraiser is about much more than raising money. It is an opportunity to bring neighbors together while strengthening the partnership between the department and the communities it serves. The department relies on the continued generosity of area residents, who attend events like the Cajun Boil, purchase a plate and donate auction items in order to help ensure local firefighters have the tools they need when emergencies arise.
This year's fundraiser is being held during the annual Saguache Hollyhock Festival, a longtime community celebration that honors the town's official flower, the hollyhock. The festival traditionally features vendors, local art, community activities and entertainment, drawing visitors from throughout the San Luis Valley and beyond. There are so many different events to attend during the festival and now there is also Cajun food to add to the festivities.
By joining the festival this year, the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department hopes to introduce its annual fundraiser to even more people while sharing one of Saguache's most cherished traditions.
Whether attending the Hollyhock Festival for the first time or returning for another year, the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department would like to invite everyone to stop by the Cajun Boil, purchase a meal, participate in the silent auction and enjoy an afternoon of community fellowship.
The Moffat Volunteer Fire Department would like to encourage residents from across the San Luis Valley to bring their family, and their appetite and help support the volunteers who proudly answer the call whenever their community needs them.
