Ribbon cutting held for Law Office of Angela Lee in Downtown Del Norte

DEL NORTE - On April 22, partners Wesley O’Rourke and Angela Lee held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Law Office of Angela Lee and studio apartment in Del Norte.

The couple ventured on a hefty renovation and new construction project for their building across from the Windsor Hotel. The 150-year-old building was most recently home to Ohm’s Barber Shop, and was once the old Tin Cup Restaurant, and a Black-owned medical practice far back in the day.

The young couple cut the ribbon and each popped a bottle of champagne, standing proudly as their community helped celebrate their grand achievement. The project took nearly 2 years to complete since its inception.

A complete gutting of the building revealed adobe brick walls renovated by the couple. They took adobe and aliz plaster workshops in New Mexico to breathe new life back into the old mud walls, now adorned with local earth and straw, pigments, and micah flakes. They excitedly offer adobe landscaping services through their other business venture, Sol Mountain Farm and Landscaping in South Fork.

The couple also took extra care to preserve other parts of the building’s history, revealing and maintaining the red brick walls that still have etchings from many generations of Del Norte High Schoolers. The rear includes a new construction addition and a studio apartment.

The building is the new home of the Law Office of Angela Lee. Lee is a solo-practitioner civil attorney who has lived in the San Luis Valley for 8 years, who came into private civil practice after working at the 12th Judicial District Courts, immigration courts, private firms, and nonprofit legal organizations. She is a general practice attorney doing estate planning/wills, property law and quiet title actions, business formation and management, contracts, and more.

She hopes to delve back into the world of immigration law to serve the Spanish-speaking community of the Valley. Prospective clients may complete an intake on her website at www.angelalee.law or by calling 719-657-1919.
