MONTE VISTA – The Monte Vista High School boys golf team hosted its annual tournament Friday at the Monte Vista Golf Course.

The home surroundings were good to the Pirates as they easily won the tournament. They had score of 224 which was 24 stokes better second-place Pagosa Springs.

Leading Monte Vista was Kaden Mellott who was the individual medalist for the second straight day as he shot a one-over-par 71. Connor Mellott was third with a 74, Liam Ellithorpe was fourth with a 79, Jakoby Ross was ninth with an 88, and Aiden Ford tied for 11th with a 90.

Alamosa finished in third place with 256. The Mean Moose were led by Serjio Najera who was fifth with an 80, followed by Gibson Gillespie who was seventh with an 86, Brady Van Iwaarden who tied for 11th with a 90, Jaidyn Burciaga who was 14th with a 95, and Zavier Medina who was 15th with a 96.

Del Norte took fifth place with 317. Leading the Tigers was Tytus Atencio who was 13th with 91. Landan Velasquez was 19th with a 106, and Noah Bailey was 26th with a 120.

The next tournament for all three schools is the Gunnison Invitational which will take place Monday at Dos Rios Golf Course.
