ALAMOSA – The Monte Vista High School boys golf team is in second place after the first round of the Class 2A State Tournament Monday at the Club at Rolling Hills in Golden.
The Pirates have a score of 246 which is five strokes behind the leader, Golden View Classical Academy.
Leading the Pirates is Kaden Mellott who is tied for third with a 78. Connor Mellott is tied for 12th with an 82, Liam Ellithorpe is tied for 29th with an 86, and Jakoby Ross is 73rd with a 99.
Las Animas’ Damien Baca leads individuals with a 76.
The state tournament concludes today.
Two Alamosa golfers at Class 3A Tournament
Alamosa High School has two participants at the Class 3A State Tournament which completed its first round Monday at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo.
Serjio Najera is in 53rd place with an 83, and Kobe Mizokami is 80th with a 92.
Evergreen leads the team standings with a nine-under-par 207. Resurrection Christian is second with 219.
Six individuals have scores of under par. Tyler Long of Evergreen is in first with a 67. All four of Evergreen’s golfers are under par.
The tournament ends today.
