He grew up in Sanford, Colo., and graduated from Sanford High School. After graduation, he worked in Houser’s Filling Station in Alamosa. After a few years, he received a permanent position in Monte Vista, Colo., and raised his family there. He enjoyed hunting with his dad, his friends and his brother, family camping and fishing trips and the occasional trips to the casino.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Thelma, and his daughter, Peggy Sue (Charlie) Braun.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, and her children, Lorie, Frank and Ellie; his siblings, Warren (Diane) Mickelsen and Glenna (Myron) Price; and as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
