MONTE VISTA — A joint law enforcement operation on June 18 resulted in the arrest of four people and the seizure of cash and illicit drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, officials said.

The Monte Vista Police Department, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Alamosa Police Department and Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Monroe Street as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Investigators seized more than 26 grams of fentanyl powder, 33 grams of methamphetamine and about $850 in cash believed to be tied to illegal drug activity.

Three of the four people arrested were booked into the Rio Grande County Detention Facility on felony charges related to the possession and distribution of controlled substances. Those arrested were identified as Leonard Trujillo, 36; Flor Ochoa, 27; Leonard Trujillo Sr., 64; and Joshua Naranjo, 34.

“Working together, we are making a meaningful impact in disrupting the distribution of dangerous narcotics within our community,” Monte Vista Interim Police Chief Charles Schoepflin said in a statement, thanking the participating agencies.

Schoepflin added that the department remains committed to locating drug distributors and keeping the community safe.
