Lady Moose gymnasts take second at home meet

ALAMOSA – This past Saturday, the Alamosa High School girls gymnastics team was scheduled to host Pueblo Central and Canon City in the season opener. However, Canon City canceled its program this season, therefore the contest became a dual meet between the Lady Mean Moose and the Lady Wildcats.

Alamosa, however, came in second in the meet. Pueblo Central scored 167.775 points and the Lady Mean Moose 151.

Alamosa was led by Braelyn Martinez who finished sixth in the all-around standings with 31.6 points. She was third in the vault with 8.75 points, third on the floor exercise with 8.825, seventh on the uneven bars with 7.55, and ninth on the balance beam with 6.475.

Next for the Lady Mean Moose was Leah Pintor with 30.925 in the all-around. That total included a sixth-place finish on the bars with 7.625 points, sixth on the beam with 7.1, seventh on the floor with 8.3, and ninth on the vault with 7.85.

Taylor Off scored 30.8 points in the all-around. She was fourth on the beam with 7.275, fifth on the vault with 8.3, ninth on the bars with 7.375, and ninth on the floor with 7.85.

Kianna Morales scored 28.85 points in the all-around. She was sixth on the vault with 8.25, eighth on the beam with 6.9, 10th on the bars with an even six points, and 10thy on the floor with 7.7.

Kenya Hostetter accumulated 27.675 all-around points and she was fourth on the vault with 8.65, ninth on the beam with 6.7, 11th on the bars with 5.225, and 11th on the floor with 7.1.

Rounding out the scoring for Alamosa was Chloe Kern who scored 27 all-around points. She was seventh on the vault with 8.05, eighth on the floor with 8.05, 12th on the bars with 4.85, and 12th on the beam with 6.05.

Pueblo Central’s Karlee Knabenshue was the all-around champion with 35.150. She also won three of the four events. She won the vault with 9.2, the uneven bars with 8.625 and floor exercise with 9.475. She was also third on the balance beam with 7.85.

Pueblo Central’s Ava Cozzetto won the beam with 8.425.

The two teams will meet again this coming Saturday, this time in Pueblo. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
