ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association released the brackets for the state football playoffs on Sunday with five teams from the San Luis Valley earning postseason positions.
The playoff brackets are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.
Three of the local teams will have home games.
In Class 1A, Centauri is the fourth overall seed and it will host 13th-seeded Holyoke on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Also in Class 1A, Monte Vista is the 10th seed and it will be on the road to play seventh seed Meeker on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Centauri and Monte Vista are the only two South-Central League teams to advance to the postseason.
In six-man football, undefeated Sierra Grande is the sixth seed and it will host 11th-seeded Eads. Kickoff on Saturday is at 1 p.m.
Two other teams from the Southwest League are in the postseason. Branson/Kim is the 12th seed and it will play at fifth-seeded Granada. Primero is the 16th seed and it will go to face top-seeded Cheyenne Wells. Both games are Saturday at 1 p.m.
The remaining home team is Sanford in eight-man football. The eighth seed Mustangs will host ninth-seeded Springfield Saturday at 1 p.m.
Two additional Mountain League teams will be in postseason action. League champion Mancos is the fourth seed and it will host 13th-seeded Plateau Valley. Dove Creek is seeded 10th and it will play at seventh-seeded Simla. Both games are Saturday at 1 p.m.
In Class 2A, Alamosa enters at the 12th seed and they will be on the road to face the fifth-seeded Lamar Thunder on Saturday. Kickoff at Lamar’s new stadium on campus will be at 1 p.m.
Two other Intermountain League teams also advanced to the playoffs. League champion Montezuma-Cortez is the 11th seed and the Panthers will be on the road to face sixth-seeded Berthoud. Pagosa Springs is the 14th seed and the Pirates will travel to take on third-seeded The Classical Academy. Both games will be Saturday at 1 p.m.
Only one team from the eight-man Six County League will have a playoff berth as Hoehne enters as the 16th seed and it will travel to face top-seeded Haxtun on Saturday at 1 p.m.
