ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its All-State teams for boys wrestling, girls wrestling and girls swimming earlier this week.
The girls swimming All-State team was announced on Wednesday with one athlete from the San Luis Valley getting recognized.
Sargent’s Emma Sewell was named an honorable mention selection in Class 3A. She received the honors after finishing seventh in the 200-yard individual medley at last week’s state tournament.
A total of 12 male wrestlers were named to the All-State team which was released on Thursday.
In Class 3A, Alamosa’s Jeremiah DeLaCerda was a first team selection after winning the 106-pound championship at last weekend’s state tournament.
The Mean Moose also had three second team selections after they took second at state. The list includes Anthony Meder (113), Uriah Martinez (126) and Dyson Woodward (150).
Alamosa’s Rusty Johnson was also named the Class 3A Co-Coach of the Year.
Also named to the first team was Centauri’s Parker Buhr who was the champion at 157 pounds.
The Falcons had two additional All-State selections. Matthew Salazar was a second-team selection at 106, and Spencer Smith was honorable mention after finishing fourth at 175.
In Class 2A, Center’s Aaron Valadez was a first-team selection after he won the title at 150-pounds.
Two more Vikings were named honorable mention. Caden Ruggles earned the recognition after a third-place finish at 157 pounds, and Michael Archuleta took the honors after placing fourth at 113.
Monte Vista had two honorable mention wrestlers. Kevin Cisneros (150) and Jacob Pacheco (165) both took third place in their respective weight divisions.
The girls All-State wrestling team was also announced on Thursday with two Alamosa competitors being selected.
Gizelle Meraz (115) and Samantha Maestas (120) were first team selections after they won their weight classes at the state tournament.
