ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School softball team qualified for the Class 3A State Tournament for the third consecutive year as it took second place at the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament Saturday in Wiley.
The Mean Moose opened the tournament by winning a slugfest with Gunnison by a score of 19-12. They then faced the third-ranked Southeast Colorado Angels in the regional championship game, but they lost 10-0.
Alamosa (15-10) is the 13th seed and it will face fifth-seeded Forge Christian in the first round on Saturday. First pitch is at 10 a.m. at the Aurora Sports Complex.
Two other Tri-Peaks League teams also qualified for state as Lamar won its regional, and La Junta was second in its region.
