MONTE VISTA - Alabama duo Muscadine Bloodline will be the headliner of the Ski-Hi Stampede’s opening concert on July 10 in Monte Vista. Special guest Aaron Watson will be opening for the rising country duo. The Stampede, Colorado’s oldest rodeo, runs from July 10-13 at the Ski-Hi Complex.
DEL NORTE - The Rio Grande County Museum will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Barlow and Sanderson Stage Office. The event will kick off on June 21 at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and dedication beginning at 11:30. There will be light refreshments and an open house following the ribbon cutting.
DEL NORTE - The Del Norte High School Class of 2025 was surrounded by family and friends on Friday, May 23, as they gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and to set the stage for their future. The gym in the Upper Rio Grande School District (URGSD) was packed to the brim with those who came to celebrate the new graduates, filling the air with excitement and laughter.
RIO GRANDE COUNTY - The Rio Grande County Board of Commissioners again unanimously denied, 3-0, a request to put a $24 million aquatics center before voters on a special election ballot in the fall.

Over New Year’s weekend, San Luis Valley Valley 4-H members traveled to Arizona to participate in the prestigious Arizona National Livestock Judging Contest. The event challenged participants to evaluate eight classes of livestock: Market Steers, Breeding Heifers, Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Market Goats, Wether Dam Does, Breeding Gilts, and Market Hogs.

DEL NORTE – Attention has been brought to a historical landmark in the Town of Del Norte in recent weeks after discussions began to potentially sell the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Caboose 0580. As travelers venture into town on the west side of Del Norte, many are in awe of an original short side caboose that was refurbished in 2011 by a gentlemen named Doug Davlin.

DEL NORTE – The Rio Grande County Museum partnered with the Del Norte High School Theatre for the first-ever Del Norte Cemetery Tour highlighting local Civil War Veterans on Saturday, Oct. 12. The event was well attended and the participating students reenacting the characters had a wonderful time captivating the attending crowd.
DEL NORTE – The overlay project for the Kent Rominger Airport runway has been completed thanks to grant funding through the Colorado Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division. This project has been on the calendar for some time as materials and closure dates were figured out, but now that the project is done, pilots from around the world can enjoy a new runway while visiting.
SUMMITVILLE – The Rio Grande County Museum with the help of the Rio Grande National Forest and several leaders throughout the San Luis Valley have started a preservation effort for the remaining structures in the Summitville Mining District.
DEL NORTE – Through the combined effort of the Rio Grande County Public Health Department, the Town of Del Norte, and Rio Grande Hospital, a new Fitness Court Studio has opened in the Del Norte Centennial Park.
