DEL NORTE — Foul play is not suspected after a man’s body was found in trees on 2nd Street on Friday, the Del Norte Police Department reported.

At approximately 7:55 p.m. on Aug. 25, the Del Norte Police Department, with assistance from the Rio Grande County Sherrif's Office, responded to a call made by a person who reported an individual located in the trees within the 500 block of 2nd Street whom they believed to be unresponsive and possibly deceased.

When officers and EMTs arrived on scene, they found a deceased male. The Rio Grande County Coroner was called a pronounced the male individual deceased.

It's too early in the investigation to determine cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased will be released later along with the information on the cause of death once it is determined by Rio Grande County Coroner and the El Paso County Medical Examiner's Office.

Foul play is not suspected, and no further information is available due to the ongoing investigation, DNPD reported.
