CREEDE — A section of the popular Ute Creek Trail (Forest Trail 819) has sloughed and is now impassable to livestock.
The damage has occurred about three miles from the trailhead on a narrow, steep section of the trail.
Ute Creek Trail accesses the Weminuche Wilderness from the west end of the Rio Grande Reservoir.
The trail is still open to backpackers, but extra caution is advised when hiking through the damaged section of the trail.
Currently, it is unknown how long it will take to fix the trail.
